Experience
I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Mercer, and a graduate degree in Education that includes an ESOL endorsement. I am currently continuing my academic studies, pursuing an Education Specialist certification with a Mathematics endorsement. For the past five years, I have taught elementary students, working with them both inside and outside the classroom. Since I teach elementary, I am skilled at all core subjects. However, my absolute passion is math. I find there are a variety of ways to teach it. Math is essentially problem solving, and it gives me the chance to demonstrate creativity, which helps me find the right connection with a student. When you create engagement with a student, it unlocks learning for them. I emphasize the practical side of math, finding real-life situations and visuals to convey the lessons. If you make learning fun, students will participate. Active participation is essential for them to be able to reach a point where they master the content. When I am not teaching, I design clothing for children and use my creativity to decorate for events. I organized a girls' social club at the school where I teach because it creates an opportunity for me to mentor the kids. My other hobbies are photography and shopping.
